GW Fins Donates $25,000 To First Tee Of Greater New Orleans, As First Donation From Restaurant’s Foundation, “Fins Wings For Fins’ Kids”
In March of this year, GW Fins’ Owner, Gary Wollerman, established the “Fins Wings For Fins’ Kids” Foundation, benefitting local youth educational organizations, where 100% of the proceeds from every order of one of our signature appetizers, Fins Wings, would go to benefit these charitable efforts.
The first beneficiary of this program was First Tee of Greater New Orleans, an impressive local organization that not only helps local school-aged children learn the game of golf, but their coaches help participants develop valuable social and life skills as well.
Thanks to all of our wonderful guests who not only ordered Fins Wings but donated considerably more than their $14 price to help us reach our fundraising goal of $25,000. Gary Wollerman, along with GW Fins’ Executive Chef, Michael Nelson presented a check for these funds to the First Tee Executive Director, Chip Patterson, along with some of the First Tee participants.
The funds raised through GW Fins’ “Fins Wings For Fins’ Kids” will help subsidize the students who are in First Tee’s in-school, after-school, and summer camp programs that qualify for Federal Free and Reduced Lunch and don’t pay to participate in these First Tee programs. Additionally, First Tee lost about $10K worth of equipment due to damage from hurricane Ida, so some of GW Fins’ funds will also be used to help replace that equipment.
As a long-time proponent of giving back to the New Orleans community, with a strong focus on educating and assisting local youth to achieve their potential, Gary Wollerman is committed to continuing this foundation and his fundraising efforts in 2022. We will soon be announcing our next beneficiary organizations – and greatly appreciate your continued support of GW Fins and our fundraising efforts!
